Adelaide is cheaper to rent in. The median Adelaide suburb rents for $330/wk against $370/wk in Perth, about 11% less. Perth is where households earn more ($2,005/wk against $1,604/wk in Adelaide). Measured against local household income, rent takes about 18% in Perth and 21% in Adelaide.
We cannot compare sale prices fairly here: there is no open-licence suburb-level sale price dataset for Perth yet, and we do not substitute commercial estimates. Rent is the like-for-like measure we can compare.
